[BURKINA FASO] Challenge of the TOOM-NOOMA association in rural areas of Burkina Faso

Published by

Mr. Pagabelem Samuel, the president of the TOOM-NOOMA association

It was 5 years ago when I was in college, there were a lot of trees, the forest was present around us and the rain was good too that had given good harvests. But today everything has changed and around me.

There is food insecurity caused by the environment. That’s why I decided to create an association to plant trees and raise awareness of the population about the protection of the environment.

My association “TOOM-NOOMA” is based in the region of Mouhoun loop whose capital is Dédougou.

We pursue the following objectives:

  • Fight against the advance of the desert
  • Awareness raising
  • Reforestation
  • Everything related to the environment
Sensitization to the local population
Land to reforest in August 2018 Preparation of land for reforestation in August 2018

We sensitize the local population in rural areas on the protection of the environment and the reforestation of endangered plants. We train them on livestock and agriculture as well as gardening to reduce the food crisis and unemployment in rural areas.

In 2018, we will reforest 10 hectares of land, educate 1,500 farmers and improve farmland.

We are looking for financial partners around the world to support us.
